Innovite’s Type 2 Collagen features undenatured collagen that is made up of multiple polypeptide chains linked together. Unlike other collagen, tough undenatured collagen protein is not easily destroyed by the acids and proteases in our gut. Its main role is to initiate an immune response that results in a more rapid restoration of joints and assist in destruction of cartilage in our joints caused by immune overactivity.

Chondrocytes and Natural Repair
Everyday mechanical wear and tear can lead to microscopic damage of the knee resulting in the release of chemicals that cause pain with continued use of the joint. Our natural built in repair process helps reduce pain and inflammation in healthy individuals. A major participant in our natural repair process is the chondrocyte. Chondrocyte cells are responsible for producing collagen and other extracellular proteins such as the proteoglycans which make up the structural matrix of the knee joint which keeps the joint healthy.

But for some, lack of mobility as a result of increased microscope damage as well as pain from degenerative conditions has outweighed the effects of our natural repair system.

A special class of immune cells (T-regulator cells), respond to Type 2 Collagen and
secrete specific cytokines which beneficially alter immune responses.

An Immune Response for Enhanced Repair
Type 2 Collagen is designed to remain intact while consumed, this allows the absorbed molecules to reach a specialized area of the small intestine called the Peyer’s patch. From here it is transported through the gut where an immune response is initiated.

More Chondrocyte Activity
Microscopic damage prompts chondrocytes to swing into action to clean up the joint by removing the damaged tissue and then replacing tissue with healthy material.

Once the cleanup process is down, chondrocytes shift into repair mode by laying down new structural material.
But, in order to make this switch, chondrocytes must first produce and then respond to the anti-inflammatory cytokines IL-4 & TGF-B. These anti-inflammatory cytokines appear to be the key drives that shift chondrocyte cell metabolism from clean up --> to repair.
TYPE 2 Collagen activated T-regulators work to enhance this natural process by directly encouraging chondrocytes to produce more of the collagen needed for healthy joint tissue.

Hyaluronic Acid for Joints
Studies show that orally ingested hyaluronic acid can down-regulate cytokines that produce inflammation, leading to an overall decrease in inflammation and the cartilage destruction that results. Hyaluronic acid also helps produce short term benefits in patients with knee pain with symptoms of pain continuing to improve over 12 months.
