🪥Is Your Toothpaste Full of Toxins?? 🦷
Rick Kohut | JAN 26, 2024

From skin problems, gut issues and brain fog to neurological conditions, infertility and joint problems - environmental toxins are linked to every chronic health issue. Addressing them is crucial when seeking to improve one’s health.
It’s no secret that toxins are everywhere and they negatively impact your health. But are you doing anything about it?
Some people brush it off as though it's no big deal, but might not know that many toxins can accumulate in the body and in the environment. You might not realize the new chemicals used in the Big Food industry or the additives and emulsifiers used in vaccines and medications or the growing popularity in neurological damaging pesticide use such as Glyphosates and Noenicitinoid Insecticides. When does it become important?
As a health and wellness coach for over 12 years it is very clear that toxins are a major interference when trying to optimize health. If often call toxins poisons because it is a more accurate definition. These are substances that can severely impede your body's natural biological functions.
Biological functions of the body can be directly impaired at varying levels of severity as a result of toxin exposures, consumption of toxins and/or injections of toxins. The primary sources are clearly Big food, Big Pharma and Big Agriculture, but there are many more. I've compiled a long list of serious toxins that everyone should be aware of in our Toxic Load Checklist which is available on our website for free, but I'd like to highlight one significant source of toxins here, which contains several poisonous ingredients. You might be surprised!
Now, It's impossible to eliminate all toxins, because they're everywhere. You'd have to live in a bubble if you did. But why not at least be aware of them and start by trying to limit your exposure to a few of them. It can only help your health after all.
Start with TOOTHPASTE
Yes, toothpaste! I tell all of my clients to start by getting a high quality natural toothpaste from your local health food store and throw out the toxic drug store brands - you know the brands I'm talking about.
If you are looking for a great way to start limiting your toxin exposure - then start by changing your toothpaste! It is one of the most toxic substances most people put in their body...twice a day!!!! It has several extremely toxic substances in it. I can hear you thinking... "But I don't swallow it"
Even if you don't swallow your toothpaste, the mucus membranes in your mouth and tongue are highly permeable and toxic molecules can enter straight into the bloodstream very efficiently. YOU DO NOT NEED TO SWALLOW IT TO INGEST IT!
Common Toxins in your toothpaste!
1. Fluoride carries a poison warning and is a major risk factor for disfiguring dental fluorosis. Fluoride has long been considered the answer for preventing tooth decay by so-called "professionals", but groundbreaking research has cast serious doubt on its usefulness. Fluoride can lower IQ in children and has been associated with contributing to cancer. And there's more. visit here for more information flouridealert.org
2. Triclosan is an antibacterial chemical added to toothpaste to help fight plaque and gingivitis. Triclosan has been linked to concerns over antibiotic resistance, endocrine disruption and thyroid dysfunction. Endocrine-disrupting chemicals such as triclosan, can promote a wide variety of health problems, including; breast, ovarian, prostate and testicular cancer, preterm and low birth weight babies, precocious puberty in girls and un-descended testicles in boys.
3. Artificial Sweeteners, such as aspartame are also often added to commercial toothpastes. Aspartame is metabolized inside your body into both wood alcohol, a poison and formaldehyde, which is a carcinogen used as embalming fluid and is not eliminated from your body through the normal waste filtering done by your liver and kidneys. It's been linked to birth defects, cancers, brain tumors and weight gain.
4. Propylene Glycol - is a type of antifreeze that is used in toothpaste and other cosmetics. It is also found in paints and enamels. It acts as a cleaning agent or surfactant. Studies have linked propylene glycol to skin, eye and lung irritation, as well as organ system toxicity.
5. Artificial Colors - Toothpastes specifically targeted to children often contain artificial colors (food dyes), which have been linked to hyperactivity and related behavioral problems in children. Some such ingredients also pose a risk of cancer and allergic reactions. Contaminants in dyes include synthetic chemicals and heavy metals, including; lead, mercury and arsenic. Red 40, Yellow 5 and Yellow 6.
That's only FIVE nasty ingredients, but there are many more in that inconspicuous toothpaste.
